Hello April!
It's finally feeling a little bit like Spring here at Milly Bean Handiworks. I've been able to work in the workshop with the doors open and the heaters off. It's been really nice enjoying the nicer weather!
Things have been busy lately, I have 2 new editions to the shop! The first is a key holder. The idea for this key holder came from my husband. He thought of Destinations Begin Here, I think it's a fun saying and different from most key holders. If you are like us, and have several different people with keys, plus lawnmower keys and shed keys, a key holder with several hooks comes in handy. Destinations Begin Here has 7 brass hooks perfect for all those keys. You can check out this key holder in my shop HERE.
My next edition to the shop is my Laundry sign. This sign is so much fun. I love the clothes line of laundry hanging up with the red dress blowing in the breeze. This sign is bigger then my usual signs. Laundry measures 5.5 inches high by 24 inches long. This is the beginning of a new set of signs. I have a few ideas for signs at this size. You can check out my Laundry sign HERE.
I've been thinking a lot about cross stitching and have decided I will not be offering new patterns for sale in my shop. What is in the shop will remain. My kits will remain until they are sold, I'm not sure I'll be restocking them. I love cross stitching and will continue to cross stitch, but I want to explore more wood working techniques and I don't feel I can give time to both. I want to expand the wood working part of my shop and include wood working and embroidery together without the pressure of having to create a cross stitch pattern. Will a pattern pop up in my shop? Maybe... never say never! Cross stitching is one thing I love to do so there may be a pattern from time to time.
In other news, in the workshop, things have been running smoothly. Since I resurfaced my waste board depth issues are a thing of the past. I feel like I've learned a lot and feel a lot more confident working on new carves. The next thing I would like to learn is how to stain wood. I have a few ideas and I'd like to try staining some of my signs. I also have an idea for clocks. Lots of new wonderful things!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I'll leave you with a carve of a new sign coming next week!
Happy Creating!
