Hello June!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring! Here it has felt like Summer with hot days and thunderstorms in the evenings. June is always a great month for me as it's my birthday month. I'm lucky enough to celebrate my birthday around Father's Day so I get to share the celebrations with my husband. This year my birthday is the day before Father's Day so we get to share the weekend. Keep a close eye out because there may be a special surprise from the shop that weekend!
This past month I've been very busy in the workshop. I released quite a few signs. The first signs for May were my Kiss the Cook signs. I made one sign with a mustache under the chef's hat and the other with eyelashes. My favorite is the one with eyelashes. It's so adorable and will be perfect hanging in the kitchen.
The next sign was Home is where 💗 is. For me this saying is so true. My most favorite people in the world are in my home. It's my favorite place to be at the end of the day. It is where my heart is.
I also added 2 more kitchen signs, But First, Coffee! and Whip It Good!. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my husband is. He can't function without a cup of coffee, so I dedicated But First, Coffee to him and all the coffee lovers out there. Whip It Good! was my longest carve. It took an hour and a half just for the holes in the whisks to carve. All of these signs are made from pine and are 5.5 inches by 24 inches. I've added 2 saw tooth hangers in the back for easy hanging. They can be found in my shop.
June and July will be slower months for me. My grand kids are with me 4 days a week and with them being 5 and 7 a lot of work won't happen in the shop with them around. However they both start school in mid August and I'll be able to work full time on Milly Bean Handiworks. I'm excited to finally be able to dedicate most of my time to the shop. I have lots of ideas and I'm looking forward to sharing them in the fall.
That's about it for May. I've been asked a few questions about Oramask and I'll be writing a blog post soon about how I use it. I'm working on a few more signs and shopping for a router or router with router table. I haven't decided. I want a small router I can hold in my hand, but I also want a router with a router table, but the small router will suit an idea I have. I love shopping for new toys!
